President to Resign as Deadline Approaches
March 5, 2007 Wilmington, Delaware – Marie McCaffrey,
president of The Delaware Conference on Alternative Medicine is resigning her
position effective April 1, 2007. After spearheading the first non-profit
Conference of its kind, which was held last March, Marie is organizing the second Delaware Conference
on Alternative Medicine to be held at the Chase Center on the Riverfront on
Saturday March 31, 2007 with the help of volunteers. She hopes that someone will step up to take over her
position as she pursues a different avenue in taking care of her 94-yeaer-old
mother who will be relocating here soon. “I’d
like to see it become an annual event,” says Marie.
“I’m sorry I won’t be the one to make that a reality.”
As a former teacher,
Marie strove to make quality education the focus of the Conference.
It is designed as a one-day college experience for people who have an
interest in being well informed about their health care choices.
Attendees can choose between 16 cutting edge subjects and visit a variety
of exhibitors who are in the know about natural products and food-based
supplements. The concept has
certainly caught on here in Wilmington and the event is expected to be sold out.
A list of exhibitors, speakers
and topics along with a registration
form can be found online at altmedangel.com
or by calling 302-738-3304.
Some of the speakers at the Conference are Alan Tillotson,
registered herbalist; Dr. Robert Abel, ophthalmologist; Dr. Anthony Bazzan,
integrative physician; Kathleen Gareth, holistic nurse
practitioner; Dr. Jeffrey Kerner, integrative physician; Dr. Shelley
Epstein, certified veterinary homeopath; Dr. Sam Bogoch, cancer researcher;
Polly Grimaldi RN, nutritionist; Dr. Trent Ryan, chiropractic neurologist; Lorna
Lee, master of acupuncture; Dr. Kem Moser, biological dentist; Ben Briggs,
compounding pharmacist and Susan Silberstein, author and worldwide lecturer.
Too often people mistakenly think that Alternative Medicine
is in competition with allopathic medicine.
In reality, nothing could be further from the truth.
Alternative Medicine is a catchall term used to describe any modality
that does not use pharmaceuticals at its base.
The two actually compliment each other quite nicely.
All of the doctors and practitioners above and those who spoke at the
last Conference use it but time does not permit educating their patients about
it during a routine office visit. That
is why they have chosen to donate their time to speak at this Conference.
The sponsor of this event, altmedangel.com, is
a non-profit corporation offering free educational information on natural
supplements and therapies, a list of physicians who use alternative treatments,
a newsletter and book review section, great links pages and a product guide.
Registration forms can be printed from the web site. Admission includes lunch.
