Allergy or Disease

According to Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad D.C., L.Ac., R.N., Ph.D., allergy can be much more than a runny nose, sneezing, hives, asthma or hay fever. Doctors and researchers are now finding that allergic factors may be involved in most illnesses and medical disorders. Statistics show that at least 50% of the population suffers from some type of allergy. Scratch tests and blood tests often do not detect them.

An allergy can be caused by literally anything under the sun, including sunshine. Many allergies are hereditary and may not exhibit symptoms until a later date. It has been proven that, the stronger the genetic factor, the earlier the probable onset. It is now possible to cure allergies, thus eliminating the resulting medical disorder. Dr. Nambudripad's practice is based on a technique she developed called (NAET) Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Treatment. One of her case histories follows.

A 56 year old female suffered from cardiac asthma for 7 years. Whenever she went to bed, she woke up with an asthma attack every few hours. Devi discovered she bought a water bed 7 years earlier. Muscle testing revealed she was allergic to water. After being treated for water with NAET, her cardiac asthma left. Details on how this acupuncture treatment works can be found in the book Say Goodbye to Illness by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad.

How might this relate to a medical disorder? Well, if you are allergic to one or more of the nutrients essential for proper heart function, your heart will never be nourished. A malnourished heart will grow weaker and weaker. Allergies also weaken the immune system. A weak immune system has difficulty repairing itself. The weakest organ will be the first to go.

If you find your health problems always happen at a particular time of year, perhaps there is an environmental cause. Or perhaps you are handling or eating something different than you usually do. Many heart attacks happen around the holidays. Besides being a stressful time, many different foods are eaten, packages are handled, envelopes are licked, and we experience various odors in malls and stores. Any one of these could cause a hidden allergic reaction which manifests itself as heart palpitations, etc.

The next time you experience a health problem, think back over the past week to determine if you did something differently. If it turns out to be an allergy, consider eliminating it with NAET. For a list of practitioners, go to the bottom of the Physician Reference List on this site and click on NAET Practitioners.

If you're not inclined to spend the money on finding a practitioner for something you're not sure will work, then here is a method you can try first at no cost and in the comfort of your own home.  It works on the same principle as NAET and is successful approximately 75% of the time.  You can always find a professional for a stubborn case.

How to Cure Food Allergies in 1 Minute or Less

Stand up while alone in a quiet place and hold your allergen in your left hand.  Relax.

Place your right hand palm-up on top of your head and hold that position for 30-60 seconds while breathing deeply.

Wait 24 hours before eating the offending food.  This gives your body time to process your instructions.

If your reaction has improved but is not quite not quite cured, repeat the process every 24 hours until you're satisfied.

Allergy, Alkalinity and Acidity

According to Dr. Susan Lark of The Lark Letter, "allergies are an inflammatory reaction triggered by over-acidity."  If you can restore your body's alkalinity, the allergic reaction often vanishes.  She recommends combining one teaspoon of baking soda with a cup of spring water and 1000 mg of bromelain.  Unlike allergy drugs, this remedy won't leave you feeling groggy.

Pulse Test to Identify Food Allergies

  1. Choose your number-one suspected allergen and avoid it for 20 days.

  2. Take your pulse at rest (five minutes after sitting down), for 60 seconds. Your pulse can be found inside the bony protuberance on the thumb side of your wrist.

  3. Then eat more than usual of the number-one food on your list of suspected allergens.

  4. Take your pulse after 10, 30, and 60 minutes. Make sure you take it sitting down, not having exerted yourself in any way for the duration of 60 seconds.

  5. Keep a record of any symptoms over the next 48 hours.

  6. If your pulse increased by 10 points or if you have any noticeable symptoms within 48 hours, avoid this substance and wait 48 hours before testing the next item on your list. If your pulse did not increase by 10 points and you have no change in symptoms, reintroduce this food (in moderation, not every day) into your diet, and proceed with the same test for the next item on your list.

Tips for Detecting Allergens

How do you know if you are allergic or sensitive to certain foods? Allergic reactions include hay fever, a stuffy and running nose, itchy eyes, itchy skin, asthma or difficulty breathing, headaches, bloating, water retention, facial puffiness, and discoloration around the eyes. If you get three or more of these symptoms, as well as joint or muscle aches, there is a good chance you are allergic to some food/s.

  • Avoid all foods that you suspect may be causing a reaction, for 14 days, whether they are on the list below or not. Check the contents of the foods you eat to see whether they contain any of those below. Stock up with allergen-free foods before starting.

  • If you are avoiding WHEAT, stay off all bread, cakes, biscuits, pasta, cereals, white sauces made with wheat flour, etc. Alternatives are oat cakes, rice cakes, genuine 100-percent rye bread such as pumpernickel or rye, sauces made with corn flour, corn- or oat-based cereals, and pastry made with corn and almond meal instead of wheat.

  • If you are avoiding all GRAINS stay off food containing wheat, rye, oats, barley, corn, or spelt (an ancient wheat strain). You can eat rice, millet, buckwheat, or quinoa. When you reintroduce foods, start with corn, then oats, barley, spelt, rye, and lastly wheat.

  • If you are avoiding MILK, also stay off cheese, yogurt, butter, chocolate, and foods containing milk products. Good alternatives are soy milk or nut cream, made by blending nuts with water (cashews are particularly good). Drink herb teas that do not require milk, and have more beans, lentils, and tofu if cheese is normally a major source of your protein.

  • If you are avoiding YEAST stay off all breads (unless yeast-free), yeast spreads, and beer. Be very careful to check the label, especially on baked products.

  • Most of all fill up with lots of fruit and vegetables, rice, beans, lentils, tofu, fish, and gluten-free grains.
