Who is Angel?

According to the National Cancer Institute, the number of American women expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer sometime during their lives has increased significantly over the years:  It was one in 20 in 1950 -- one in 9 in 1995 -- one in 8 in 1999. The probability of an American woman developing any type of cancer is 1 in 3.  Ninety-five percent of all breast cancers have a dental involvement.

In 1998, the respected British medical journal Lancet published an article that shocked the cancer-treatment establishment.  It revealed that precautionary radiation given to patients who had successful cancer surgery was not effective.  In fact, those who received post-surgical radiation were 21% more likely to die than patients who received surgery alone.

According to an analysis published in Current Cancer Research, chemotherapy is credited with remission in only 7% of cases and prolonged survival in only 15%.  In other words chemotherapy is utterly useless 80% of the time.

Numerous studies have found a direct association between low vitamin D levels and cancers of the breast, prostate, colon and skin.  Tranquilizers and antidepressants have been linked to breast cancer, particularly in premenopausal women.

Studies show women taking statin drugs have breast cancer rates 12 times higher than other women.  Also cancer risks for women double when taking blood pressure drugs and some beta blockers for 5 years.

In October, 2002, the Journal of the National Cancer Institute published a study proving that breast self-exams are ineffective. Researchers studied 266,000 women for 10 years. Half of them were carefully trained and instructed to perform periodic breast examinations and the other half did nothing. At the end of the 10 years, there was no difference between the breast cancer death rates of the two groups.

A report from Reuters Health states, "Men who receive prostate cancer screening and treatment do not appear to gain a survival benefit compared to men who don't, study findings show." Doctors from the University of Connecticut Health Center studied over 200,000 men in the states of Washington and Connecticut for 11 years. The rate of PSA testing and biopsy between 1987 and 1990 was 5 1/2 times higher among the Washington men yet the number of men who died from prostate cancer in the two groups was essentially identical.

Mammography: Facts You Should Know

According to previous studies, a 25% to 30% decrease in mortality was expected with the use of mammography. However, a dramatic study from Sweden of 600,000 women aged 50 to 70 screened every two years showed instead, the reduction in breast cancer mortality was only 1% over the seven years of the study. [Laekaren Tidningen (Swedish Medical Journal), February, 1999]

Sweden leads the world in perfecting mammography techniques. These disappointing results lend credence to the notion that by the time a cancer is found on mammography, it has been in the breast for five years or more. According to Dr. Judah Folkman, renowned surgeon and scientist, it takes 10 years for a cancer tumor to grow to the size of the head of a pin (approx. one million cells), at which time it looks like healthy tissue. By the time a tumor is large enough to be detected by existing x-ray technology, it has doubled 25-30 times. (40 times is a potential lethal burden)

He says that the only way a carcinoma can continue to grow is by building a blood supply network (angiogenesis) and the only technology that can detect angiogenesis is thermography (see DITI below).

The Lancet (a well established medical journal) reported in 2000 that several randomized trials aimed at determining the effect of mammography screening on mortality from breast cancer concluded that "screening for breast cancer with mammography is unjustified" especially for women under age 50.   Click here for seven more reasons why Mammography is considered dangerous & ineffective by Samuel S. Epstein MD.

Breast Thermography aka Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) is a radiation free, contact free, non invasive, state of the art, clinical screening test recommended for women of all ages. This test is part of an early breast disease detection program that provides women an opportunity to greatly increase their chances of detecting early stages of breast disease. DITI is completely safe for pregnant women, women with breast implants and dense or sensitive breasts since there is no contact or compression of the breast. All screenings include an interpretation by a Certified Thermologist M.D.

This technology is particularly appropriate if your AMAS test is positive (see below). A tumor must grow to nearly the size of a small grape, before it becomes visible on a mammogram. DITI is the only screening method available that detects angiogenesis (a group of blood vessels formed by the tumor for food and oxygen) when the tumor may be no larger than the head of a pin. It takes years for a tumor to become life threatening. Early detection is the key.

How does DITI work?

DITI is a non invasive technique that allows the examiner to visualize and quantify changes in skin surface temperature. An infrared scanning device is used to convert infrared radiation emitted from the skin surface into electrical impulses that are visualized in color on a monitoring screen. This visual image graphically maps the body temperature, pixel by pixel, and is referred to as a thermogram. The spectrum of colors indicate an increase or decrease in the amount of infrared radiation being emitted from the body surface. Since there is a high degree of thermal symmetry in the normal body, subtle abnormal temperature asymmetry's can be easily identified.

Medical DITI has been used extensively in human medicine in the USA, Europe and Asia for the past 20 years. DITI's major clinical value is in its high sensitivity to pathology in the vascular, muscular, neural and skeletal systems and as such can contribute to the pathogenesis and diagnosis made by the clinician.

Cancer: Treatment and Prevention

Finally, it must always be pointed out that cancer of any type should be treated as a systemic disease. To identify a cancer on mammography and then to proceed to remove the cancer locally is not the best treatment. Surgery is always an option but just as important is an entire systemic nutritional protocol aimed at strengthening the immune system to fight the cancer, which in all cases is systemic (throughout the body).  Please see the immune system section of this web site for more information on how to strengthen your immune system.

The Most Accurate Test for Cancer -- AMAS Test

You may also want to have your doctor do an annual blood test known as AMAS (anti-malignin antibody screen) that will detect cancer antibodies anywhere in the body. It works best for detecting cancers in their earliest stage, before gross tumor masses form, and for determining whether all signs and activities of cancers have disappeared following treatment. It is not for end-stage cancer patients who have undergone immunosuppressive therapies such as chemotherapy or high-dose radiation because they cannot produce enough anti-malignin antibody to make the test positive. For a personal story about how this author dealt with positive test results, click here.

The AMAS test was approved by the FDA in 1977 but the clinical trials on 4,278 patients were not completed until 1994, validating the test's effectiveness. It is 95% accurate on the first test and 99% when repeated. The AMAS test can detect cancer up to 19 months before conventional medical tests for cancer can find it. It is available to doctors worldwide through Dr. Bogoch's Oncolab, 36 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02215, (800) 922-8378, at a cost of $135. For more information on early detection and prevention of cancer see Burton Goldberg's book, ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE: Definitive Guide to Cancer.

The Cancer Profile or CA Profile

This series of tests is more expensive than the AMAS test above but may be more accurate with hard to find cancers.  It is used for early detection and can detect cancer 10 years ahead of clinical diagnosis. Unlike the AMAS test, it can also be used as a follow-up for end-stage cancer patients who have undergone immunosuppressive therapies.  It costs about $258 and must be ordered by your physician from American Metabolic Labs, 1818 Sheridan Street #102, Hollywood, FL 33020, (954) 929-4814.

UltraPheresis: A New Cancer Therapy

Sometimes known as the Lentz Treatment /Therapy: UltraPheresis is a selective form of apheresis, a well-established technique of separating and processing blood components. UltraPheresis removes immunosuppressive components, known as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors, from the blood of a cancer patient. TNF inhibitors both "protect" the cancer and suppress the immune system by inhibiting inflammation. When TNF inhibitors are removed, the patient's natural immune system can recognize and attack the cancerous tissue. This therapy stimulates the natural immune response that the cancerous cells suppress.

The TNF inhibitors were discovered by Oncologist, M. Rigdon Lentz, MD, and his associates. Their findings have been published in the Journal of Lymphokine Research, Cell and The Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. Dr. Lentz discussed clinical results to date in an April 17 presentation at the International Society for Apheresis meeting in Saarbrucken, Germany.  Dr. Lentz can be found at the Lentz Apheresis Center,
397 Wallace Road, Building C, Suite 314, Nashville, Tennessee 37211 (615) 831-1222, Fax: (615) 834-8004.

Amazon Herb knocks out Chemotherapy Drugs

Specific acetogenins in the graviola tree have been reported to be selectively toxic to tumor cells, including those found in multi-drug resistant (MDR) cancers.  The primary mode of action is the inhibition of NADH, ubiquinone oxidoreductase, that is peculiar to the plasma membranes of cancerous cells.  In 1997, Purdue University researchers reported that "14 different acetogenins tested thus far demonstrate potent ATP (the chief source of cellular energy) blocking properties, including several found only in graviola." They also reported that 13 of these 14 acetogenins tested were "more potent against MDR breast cancer cells than all three of the standard drugs (adriamycin, vincristine, and vinblastine) they used as controls."  So far, specific acetogenins in graviola have also been reported to be selectively toxic to human: lung, breast, prostate, pancreatic, colon, liver, and lymphoma cell lines without the toxic side effects of their drug counterparts.

The Link between DHEA & Breast Cancer

If you believe you are at risk for breast cancer, you may want to have a doctor check your DHEA levels every year. In a long-term study of 5000 women, it was found that DHEA levels fell drastically up to nine years before the onset of clinically proven breast cancer. The researchers concluded that the highest risk factor for breast cancer was a low level of DHEA.

Cancer Vaccines

AVAX Technologies of Australia has developed a new personalized vaccine for the most aggressive kind of skin cancer, melanoma, that has spread to other parts of the body. The vaccine tricks the body's immune system into fighting tumors.

The vaccine was remarkably effective in trials on hundreds of skin cancer patients but is only available in Australia. The manufacturer is currently exploring ways to make it available in the UK.

The vaccine is made by removing the tumor and sending it on ice to AVAX whose experts use radiation to kill the cells then alter them chemically to make them more recognizable to the patient's own immune system. The finished vaccine, called M-Vax, is injected on a weekly basis back to the patient over a six week period with a booster shot six months later.

In trials on patients with 'stage three' melanoma, which had spread to the lymph nodes, M-Vax was associated with up to 55% five-year survival with no serious side effects.

Fight Cancer from Within with Photoluminescence.  Check spelling of photoluminesence.

Photoluminescence is an excellent way to strengthen your immune system which is helpful in all forms of disease. This treatment uses ultraviolet light to irradiate the blood. Make sure the doctor you see has the right protocol for treating breast cancer. For more information on Photoluminescence, read Dr. William Campbell Douglass's book, INTO THE LIGHT. There is a list of Doctors who use this treatment in the back of the book.

Bone Marrow Transplants for Advanced Breast Cancer

Bone marrow transplants are now being suggested for women with advanced breast cancer. As consumers, we need to know there is no scientific proof that women undergoing this risky and painful procedure do better long-term than women given standard doses of chemotherapy and radiation.

The dismal truth about bone marrow transplants, chemotherapy and radiation is that they are all experimental and they all destroy the immune system. It has been documented that only people with immune system deficiencies get cancer. Why compound the problem? The only way to effect a true cure is to rebalance the body to strengthen the immune system, and then let the immune system do its job. The key is in early detection and a willingness to switch to a more healthy lifestyle to prevent recurrence. For some excellent suggestions on what to do if you have advanced breast cancer, see Burton Goldberg's book, ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE: Definitive Guide to Cancer.

The Truth About Breast Cancer and Fat

If you want to prevent breast cancer or a recurrence of breast cancer, you do not need to eat a low-fat diet. Rather, you need to make a major switch in the type of fats you consume.

Eat less fat that contains omega-6 fatty acids -- mostly vegetable oils and altered, fried or treated foods like the ones that come pre-made in packages. In turn, switch to foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids -- whole foods in their natural state, like butter, fish, fish oil, olive oil and flax oil.

According to Dr. Bruce West of Health Alert, "There is no doubt that breast tissue can be significantly altered for the good by consuming more omega-3 fats and less omega-6 fats. The changes that occur in the breast tissue will discourage breast cancer growth."

Can Bras cause Breast Cancer?

Medical anthropologist Sidney Singer recently compared the incidence of breast cancer in two groups of women in Fiji. Half of the women wore bras and the other half did not. The diet, environment and lifestyle of both groups were the same. He discovered that those who went bra-less experienced practically no breast cancer while those who wore bras had the same rate of breast cancer as women living in the United States.

Can Organochlorines Cause Breast Cancer?

Individuals with breast cancer routinely have very high tissue levels of organochlorines. There are more than 10,000 different varieties of organochlorines, including compounds like benzene, chlordane, DDT, dioxin, vinyl chloride, atrazine and CFCs. Groups of individuals who have increased exposure to organochlorines, like farmers and chemical workers, have exceptionally high rates of breast cancer. Organochlorines are absorbed very easily into the body and tend to accumulate in fatty tissues like the breast. Their effect is cumulative and the health problems they cause show up later rather than immediately after exposure.

Public Service or Private Scam

Imperial Chemical Industries, a multinational manufacturer of pharmaceuticals, organochlorines and their end-products, plastics and pesticides, has been accused of dumping DDT and PCBs. They were also one of the original sponsors of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Through their sponsorship, they had control of press releases, advertisements, brochures, and other promotional material associated with the awareness campaign. Could this be why organochlorines were not featured as a contributing factor to breast cancer?
