Description

Newly remodeled last year, the carriage house sits atop a 3½ car garage behind the main house pictured below. The homes are completely surrounded by woods where residents enjoy quiet solitude, varied wildlife and many species of birds. There is a vegetable garden in back for anyone wishing to use it.

There are trails leading from the property down into the White Clay Creek Preserve where you can jog, bike ride or simply 

enjoy nature walks to Carpenter State Park.  You can walk the trails or bike all the way to the University of Delaware.  

The inside has undergone remodeling  with brand new wall-to-wall carpet, hard wood and tile floors.  Pictures do not do it justice so we advise making an appointment to see it.  The carriage house will undergo a kitchen renovation in August and will be available September 1.

Definition

A carriage house is a large apartment on top of an existing structure that was originally built for another purpose, such as a barn or garage.  It caries the same foot print as the space below and is uniquely designed for that particular situation.  It is a single family unit with a private entrance and is usually located on private property as opposed to a rental complex.  This particular carriage is located on a 4-acre parcel that borders the White Clay Creek State Park.  Residents can literally walk from their front door into the park.  It's a beautiful area specifically appealing to nature lovers and those who appreciate quiet, peaceful surroundings.  The resident owner is also the architect.
