Guardian Angel Prayer
Angel
of God, My Guardian Dear,
To whom God's love commits me
here,
Ever this day be at my side,
To light, to love, and be my guide.
May this web site be your Guide to Alternative Medicine.
St. Gertrude's Guardian Angel Prayer
Oh most holy angel, appointed by God to be my guardian, I give you thanks for all the benefits you have bestowed on me in body and in soul. I honor and glorify you because you consented to assist me with such patient loyalty, and to defend me against all the assaults of my enemies. Blessed be the hour that you were assigned to me as my guardian, my defender and my patron. In acknowledgment and return for all your loving guidance, may you receive the sacred and gentle heart of Jesus. I firmly aspire to obey you henceforth and to faithfully serve my God. Amen.
A Soldier's Prayer
This anonymous poem was blown into a trench in Tunisia during a heavy bombardment in the early days of World War II.
Stay with
me, God. The night is dark. The night is cold. My little spark
Of courage dies. The night is long. Be with me, God, and make me strong.
I love a
game. I love a fight. I hate the dark. I love the light.
I love my child. I love my wife. I am no coward. I love Life,
Life with
its change of mood and shade. I want to live. I'm not afraid,
But me and mine are hard to part. Oh, unknown God, lift up my heart.
You
stilled the waters at Dunkirk and saved Your servants. All Your work
Is wonderful. Dear God, You strode --before us down that dreadful road.
We were
alone, and hope had fled. We loved our country and our dead,
And could not shame them so we stayed --the course, and were not much afraid.
Dear God,
that nightmare road and then --that sea! We got there, we were men.
My eyes were blind, my feet were torn, my soul sang like a bird at morn!
I knew
that death is but a door. I knew what we were fighting for:
Peace for the kids, our brothers freed, a kinder world, a cleaner breed.
I'm but
the son my mother bore, a simple man, and nothing more.
But, God of strength and gentleness, be pleased to make me nothing less.
Help me,
O God, when death is near to mock the haggard face of fear,
That when I fall, if fall I must, my soul may triumph in the dust.
Prayer to Saint Anthony
(This prayer must be said out loud.)Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, Please come around. Something is lost and can't be found.
If you find it, give it to me. Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, How I'll thank thee.
Teach Us
Father in Heaven who lovest all, O
help Thy children when they call;
That they may build from age to age an undefiled heritage.
Teach us to rule ourselves alway; controlled
and cleanly night and day;
That we may bring, if need arise, no maimed or worthless sacrifice.
Teach us the strength that cannot
seek, by deed or thought, to hurt the weak:
That, under Thee, we may possess man's strength to comfort man's distress.
Teach us delight in simple things, and
mirth that has no bitter springs;
Forgiveness free of evil done, and love to all men 'neath the sun!

Prayer Attributed to a Civil War Soldier
A prayer by an American Confederate soldier seriously disabled in the Civil War:
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking,
as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next. Amen.

Bedside Prayer
Now I lay me down to sleep, I
pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Four corners to my bed, four angels there aspread:
Two to foot and two to head, and four to carry me when I'm dead.
If any danger come to me, sweet Jesus Christ deliver me.
And if I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen.
Bed
time PrayerGlory to Thee, my God, this night, for
all the blessings of the light.
Keep me, O keep me, King of kings, beneath Thine own almighty wings.
Forgive me, Lord, for Thy dear Son, the
ill which I this day have done.
That with the world, myself, and Thee, I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.
Be Thou my Guardian while I sleep; Thy
watchful station near me keep.
My heart with love celestial fill, and guard me from the approach of ill.
Hymn by Ken
Instrument of Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your
peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love, where there is injury, pardon,
where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope, where
there is darkness, light, where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to
console,
not so much to be understood as to understand, not so much to be loved, as
to love; for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in dying that we awake to
eternal life.

Irish Blessing
May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm on your face, the rain fall softly on your fields;
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Irish
PrayerMay there always be work for your hands to do. May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine upon your windowpane. May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near to you and may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
Welsh Prayer
Grant us,
O God, your protection; and in your protection, strength;
and in strength, understanding; and in understanding, knowledge;
and in knowledge, the knowledge of justice; and in the knowledge of
justice, the love of justice;
and in that love, the love of existence; and in the love of existence, the
love of God, God and all goodness. Amen
Traditional
Buddhist Blessing and Healing Chant
Just as the soft rains fill the
streams, pour into the rivers and join together in the oceans, By the power of every moment of your
goodness may your heart's wishes be soon fulfilled By the power of every moment of your
goodness may all dangers be averted and all disease be gone. For all in whose heart dwells
respect, who follow the wisdom and compassion of the Way,
so may the power of every moment of your goodness flow forth to awaken and
heal all beings,
Those here now, those gone before, those yet to come.
as completely shining as the bright full moon, as magically as by a
wish-fulfilling gem.
May no obstacle come across your way. May you enjoy fulfillment and long
life.
May your life prosper in the four blessings of old age, beauty, happiness
and strength.
American
Indian Prayer for Peace
Let us
know peace. For as long as the moon shall rise, for as long as the
rivers shall flow,
For as long as the sun shall shine, for as long as the grass shall grow, let
us know peace.
American
Indian Thanksgiving Prayer
Great and
Eternal Mystery of Life, Creator of All Things, I give thanks for the beauty You
put in every single one of Your creations. I
am grateful that You did not fail in making every stone, plant, creature, and
human being a perfect and whole part of the Sacred Hoop. I am grateful that You
have allowed me to see the strength and beauty of all my relations. My humble
request is that all of the children of earth will learn to see the same
perfection in themselves. May none of Your human children doubt or question Your
wisdom, grace, and sense of wholeness in giving all of creation a right to be
living extensions of Your perfect love.
Anima Christi
Soul of Christ,
sanctify me. Body of Christ, heal me. Blood of Christ, drench
me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen
me.
Good Jesus, hear me. In your wounds shelter me. From turning away
keep me.
From the evil one protect me. At the hour of my death call me.
Into your presence lead me, to praise you with all your saints forever and ever. Amen.
The Twenty Third Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd: I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake,
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me, thy rod and staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
St. Patrick's Breastplate
Christ be
with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ in quiet, Christ in
danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me, Christ in mouth of friend and
stranger.
My Prayer
Dear Lord, thank You for this day. Thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness.
Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear You. Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over. Let me continue to see sin through God's eyes and acknowledge it as evil. And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrongdoing, and receive your forgiveness.
And when this world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus' example --to slip away and find a quiet place to pray. It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those that will delete this without sharing it with others. I pray for those that don't believe. But I thank you that I believe.
I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met. I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight. I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly. Lord, I love you and I need you, come into my heart, please. This is my prayer. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
